Eligibility Criteria and Requirements

Eligibility criteria and requirement
To be eligible for the Naib Tehsildar post, applicants must be domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and possess a valid Domicile Certificate issued by the competent authority on or before 15th July 2025. The age limit as on 1st January 2025 is a maximum of 40 years for Open Merit category. Relaxations apply for reserved categories: up to 43 years for SC/ST-1/ST-2/RBA/ALC/IB/EWS/OBC, 42 years for physically challenged persons, and 48 years for ex-servicemen.
Education
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university along with working knowledge of Urdu language. The Urdu paper in the selection process is qualifying in nature and a necessary part of the recruitment criteria.
Salary
The pay scale for the post is Pay Level-6E, ranging from ₹35,900 to ₹1,13,500 as per 7th Pay Commission norms.
Age Limit
The general age limit is 40 years for open category candidates, with upper limits extended as per category-wise government rules, up to a maximum of 48 years for ex-servicemen.
Application Fee
Candidates from the General (Open Merit) category are required to pay ₹600, while those belonging to SC/ST-1/ST-2/EWS/PwBD categories need to pay ₹500. The fee must be paid through online mode using net banking, credit card, or debit card on the official JKSSB portal.
Selection Process
The selection process involves two papers. Paper-I is an objective type examination with 120 multiple choice questions, carrying a total of 120 marks and a duration of two hours. A negative marking of 0.25 marks applies for each wrong answer. Paper-II is a descriptive Urdu language test of 50 marks and 1-hour duration. It is qualifying in nature and candidates must meet category-wise minimum percentage marks in each section and overall. Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification.

Applicants must register and fill all personal, educational, and category details carefully. After final submission, candidates are advised to save or print the application form for future reference. In-service candidates should forward a printout of the completed application through proper channels to JKSSB before the final date of document verification.
