ICAR-NRCB Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Notice Out: Apply to 20 Graduate and Technician Vacancies by September 17

ICAR-National Research Centre for Banana (NRCB), Tiruchirappalli, has invited online applications for 20 Graduate Apprentice and Technician (Diploma) Apprentice positions across Biotechnology, Botany, Life Science, Agriculture/Horticulture, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Computer Science and related disciplines. The apprenticeship engagement will be for one year.

The NRCB Apprentice Recruitment 2026 application process started on August 27 and will close on September 17, 2026. Candidates must register and apply through the NATS portal. Graduate Apprentices will receive a monthly stipend of ₹12,300, while the stipend for Technician Apprentices is ₹10,900.

Only candidates who passed the prescribed qualification during 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026 are eligible. Selection will be based on aggregate marks in the qualifying examination, followed by certificate verification.

Qualification and Eligibility

Applicants must possess the qualification corresponding to the apprenticeship discipline for which they are applying. Graduate Apprentice positions are available for candidates with B.Sc. qualifications in Biotechnology, Botany, Life Science, Agriculture/Horticulture, Biochemistry or Chemistry, as well as BCA/B.Sc. Computer Science candidates.

For the Technician Apprentice positions, candidates need a Diploma in Agriculture or Horticulture.

Only candidates who completed the relevant B.Sc., BCA or Diploma qualification in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026 are eligible for this recruitment.

Registration on the NATS portal is compulsory for all applicants.

Previous Apprenticeship and Experience

Candidates who have already undergone apprenticeship training or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training under the applicable Apprentices Act provisions are not eligible.

Applicants having one year or more of relevant experience are also ineligible for the apprenticeship engagement.

Age Limit

The applicable age requirements will be governed by Apprenticeship rules. Reservation provisions for SC, ST, OBC and PwBD candidates will apply according to the prescribed apprenticeship guidelines.

Apprentice Stipend

Graduate Apprentices selected in any of the seven listed Graduate disciplines will receive a stipend of ₹12,300 per month.

Technician Apprentices selected from the Diploma in Agriculture/Horticulture discipline will receive ₹10,900 per month.

The apprenticeship will continue for a period of one year. Completion of the training does not provide a right to regular employment with ICAR-NRCB.

Selection Process

There is no separate examination specified for selecting the apprentices. Engagement will be based purely on merit determined from the aggregate marks obtained in the relevant Graduate or Diploma qualifying examination.

Shortlisted candidates will subsequently undergo certificate verification. Original certificates will have to be produced during verification at ICAR-NRCB, Tiruchirappalli.

No TA/DA, boarding or lodging expenses will be provided for attending certificate verification.

NATS Registration Requirements

Candidates must have valid registration on the NATS portal before applying for the ICAR-NRCB apprenticeship.

Applicants should also ensure that their percentage of marks is entered in the “% of marks / CGPA x 10” field on the NATS portal. Applications without the required percentage information will not be considered.

Candidates must upload the relevant B.Sc., BCA or Diploma provisional certificate or consolidated mark sheet as applicable.

How to Apply for NRCB Apprentice Recruitment 2026

Applications must be submitted online through the NATS portal.

  1. Open the NATS portal at nats.education.gov.in.
  2. Candidates already registered with NATS should sign in using their registered credentials.
  3. New candidates should complete student registration and obtain their enrolment number before proceeding.
  4. After signing in, open the section for applying against advertised vacancies.
  5. Search for “ICAR – NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE FOR BANANA.”
  6. Select the relevant opportunity and click the application option.
  7. Upload the applicable B.Sc., BCA or Diploma provisional certificate or consolidated mark sheet.
  8. Enter the percentage of qualifying examination marks in the required field. Candidates using CGPA should follow the prescribed NATS entry instructions.
  9. Review the submitted information and complete the online application by September 17, 2026.

Incomplete or incorrect applications and applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
