Directorate General of Shipping Recruitment 2026 – Apply Offline for Shipping Master & Director Posts

The Directorate General of Shipping, under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, has issued an official vacancy circular for the recruitment of two posts of Shipping Master & Director. These posts will be filled strictly on a Transfer on Deputation basis from eligible officers working in various Government departments. The place of duty includes major maritime hubs like Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai, where the Government Shipping Office/Seamen’s Employment Office is located. Officers with administrative experience in supervisory roles are encouraged to apply through the proper government channel.

Education

• Essential Qualification: Degree from a recognized University or Institute
• Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in a supervisory capacity in administration and establishment matters

Salary

• Level-11 as per 7th CPC: ₹67,700 – ₹2,05,700

Age Limit

• Maximum Age: 56 years as on the closing date (13 March 2026)

Deputation Eligibility

The candidate must fall under one of the following categories:

1. Holding analogous post on regular basis in the parent cadre/department
2. Five years of regular service in posts in the pay scale of ₹2200–4000 (pre-revised) or equivalent
3. Seven or eight years of regular service in the pay scales of ₹2375–3500 or ₹2000–3500 or equivalent

Note:

• Departmental officers in the direct line of promotion are not eligible.
• Deputationists shall not be considered for promotion.
