The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), a statutory body under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, has released an official recruitment notification for the post of Chief (Economics). This is a senior-level position in Level–14 of the Pay Matrix, aimed at experienced officers with a background in regulatory economics. The appointment will be made on a deputation basis from officers serving in the Central Government. Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualification

• M.A. in Economics from a recognized university or institution

Desirable Qualification

• Ph.D. in Economics

Qualifying Service (For Deputation)

Officers from the Central Government:

• Holding analogous posts on regular basis; OR
• With 2 years of regular service in Level-13A (₹1,31,100–₹2,16,600)
• With 3 years of regular service in Level-13 (₹1,23,100–₹2,15,900)

Experience

• Experience in the field of regulatory economics, demand forecasting, or economic modelling is essential.

Salary

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 56 years as on 09 February 2026
• Age relaxation applicable as per Government of India rules
