Selection Process
The Bombay High Court Hardware Engineer and Software Engineer selection process consists of three parts:
- Screening Test – 100 marks
- Practical Test – 50 marks
- Viva-Voce – 50 marks
Candidates must qualify in the Screening Test and Practical Test to progress to the subsequent stages. Final merit will be prepared on the basis of the total marks obtained in all three parts.
Screening Test
The Screening Test will be conducted for three hours and carry 100 marks. Candidates must obtain at least 50 marks to pass.
For both posts, General Knowledge and General English will account for 30 marks, while the technical subject will carry 70 marks, comprising 25 marks of objective questions and 45 marks of descriptive questions.
For Hardware Engineer, the technical syllabus covers areas including Computer Basics, Operating Systems, hardware maintenance, Server Administration, Network Administration and Leased Lines.
For Software Engineer, the technical syllabus includes Computer Basics, Operating Systems, programming languages, Object Oriented Programming, web technologies, RDBMS skills, SDLC concepts and application testing.
Practical Test and Viva-Voce
The Practical Test carries 50 marks and will be based on the respective technical syllabus. Candidates must secure at least 25 marks in the Practical Test.
The Viva-Voce also carries 50 marks and will assess the candidate’s overall suitability for appointment.
Application Fee
Candidates must pay a non-refundable registration fee of ₹200 plus applicable transaction charges for each post.
The payment must be made online through the State Bank Collect facility. A candidate applying for both Hardware Engineer and Software Engineer must submit two separate applications and make two separate fee payments.
The fee payment deadline is 4:00 PM on August 31, 2026, one hour before the online application window closes.

Select List, Probation and Service Conditions
The Select List and Wait List for Hardware Engineer and Software Engineer will remain valid for two years from their date of publication.
Candidates appointed through the recruitment will remain on probation for two years. They will not ordinarily be eligible for transfer to another place before completing five years of service.
The normal working hours specified in the recruitment details are 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. However, appointees may be required to work beyond regular hours or on holidays depending on official requirements.
