Bombay High Court Hardware and Software Engineer Vacancy Details

The advertisement does not describe the recruitment as a conventional fixed number of immediate vacancies. Instead, Bombay High Court will prepare a Select List and Wait List for both positions.

The number of candidates to be included in these lists is tentative and may be changed by the High Court.

Educational Qualification and Experience

Eligibility is different for the Hardware Engineer and Software Engineer posts. The required qualification and experience must be possessed as of the advertisement date, August 13, 2026.

Hardware Engineer

Applicants for Hardware Engineer must possess a B.E. or equivalent degree in Computer Science/Engineering or a related subject and have three years of working experience in the related field.

Software Engineer

Applicants should have exposure to Object Oriented Programming and web technologies. Preference will be given to candidates having exposure to PHP/PERL, Apache Web Server and Linux-based RDBMS skills. Candidates should also be capable of developing systems using SDLC concepts.

Candidates possessing an equivalent degree instead of the specifically mentioned B.E. or MCA qualification will be required to produce an equivalency certificate/circular issued by the concerned university.

Age Limit

The age requirements are determined as of August 13, 2026.

Government and High Court employees applying through the proper channel must comply with the applicable requirements, including production of a No Objection Certificate where required.

Bombay High Court Engineer Salary 2026

Hardware Engineer and Software Engineer appointments carry the same pay matrix.

Selected candidates will also receive allowances admissible under the applicable rules. Appointment will initially be on probation for two years.

Selection Process

The Bombay High Court Hardware Engineer and Software Engineer selection process consists of three parts:

1. Screening Test – 100 marks
2. Practical Test – 50 marks
3. Viva-Voce – 50 marks

Candidates must qualify in the Screening Test and Practical Test to progress to the subsequent stages. Final merit will be prepared on the basis of the total marks obtained in all three parts.

Screening Test

The Screening Test will be conducted for three hours and carry 100 marks. Candidates must obtain at least 50 marks to pass.

For both posts, General Knowledge and General English will account for 30 marks, while the technical subject will carry 70 marks, comprising 25 marks of objective questions and 45 marks of descriptive questions.

For Hardware Engineer, the technical syllabus covers areas including Computer Basics, Operating Systems, hardware maintenance, Server Administration, Network Administration and Leased Lines.

For Software Engineer, the technical syllabus includes Computer Basics, Operating Systems, programming languages, Object Oriented Programming, web technologies, RDBMS skills, SDLC concepts and application testing.

Practical Test and Viva-Voce

The Practical Test carries 50 marks and will be based on the respective technical syllabus. Candidates must secure at least 25 marks in the Practical Test.

The Viva-Voce also carries 50 marks and will assess the candidate’s overall suitability for appointment.

Application Fee

Candidates must pay a non-refundable registration fee of ₹200 plus applicable transaction charges for each post.

The payment must be made online through the State Bank Collect facility. A candidate applying for both Hardware Engineer and Software Engineer must submit two separate applications and make two separate fee payments.

The fee payment deadline is 4:00 PM on August 31, 2026, one hour before the online application window closes.

How to Apply for Bombay High Court Recruitment 2026

Candidates must submit their applications online. No other application mode is prescribed in the recruitment details.

1. Visit the official Bombay High Court website and open the recruitment section.
2. Select either Hardware Engineer or Software Engineer from the available post options.
3. Complete the online application form with the required personal and educational information.
4. Enter educational qualifications in the prescribed sequence, including SSC, HSC, Graduation and Post Graduation, as applicable.
5. Upload a recent passport-size photograph and signature in JPG/JPEG format. Each uploaded file should not exceed 40 KB.

Applicants seeking consideration for both engineering posts must repeat the process and submit a separate application and fee for each post. Where more than one application is submitted for the same post, the last application accompanied by successful fee payment will be considered.

Select List, Probation and Service Conditions

The Select List and Wait List for Hardware Engineer and Software Engineer will remain valid for two years from their date of publication.

Candidates appointed through the recruitment will remain on probation for two years. They will not ordinarily be eligible for transfer to another place before completing five years of service.

The normal working hours specified in the recruitment details are 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. However, appointees may be required to work beyond regular hours or on holidays depending on official requirements.

Candidates employed by the Government must obtain a No Objection Certificate from their present employer and produce it at the prescribed stage.
