Everyone will probably wonder whether they should throw in the towel at their corporate job and make a living as a content creator. Why not? It looks like fun, you’ll be living your best life, without having to be chained down by a company. You’ll be your own business and when you grow big enough, you may even need to scour through pc monitoring software reviews so that you can manage your own remote team of workers.
But is it just a far-fetched dream?
Statistics and data prove that it is never too late to jump on the bandwagon – sure, there might be millions of influencers, but at the risk of sounding like a cheesy quote: there is only one you. Designer handbags are a dime a dozen, but that doesn’t stop entrepreneurs or designers from creating new brands in order to tap into the world of luxury goods. The same goes for content.
If you are able to bring something new to the table and entertain people, you’ll attract followers like bees to pollen. The fact is that humans on a whole are consumers. We consume products, entertainment, and even people. Take a look at how many movies are made each year and even those indie-films can sometimes shock and awe because of how original or interesting they are, books are also constantly being written and published, there is no such thing as enough.
There is no clock or deadline that we’re racing against to be able to create something new that catches the eyes of the public. Perhaps there’s little to do with timing – there’s a time and place for every trend. But it’s mostly got to do with what you’re selling.
So long as there are people and smartphones around, there will be a demand for entertainment, whatever the form it takes. Even if everyone in the world is a content creator, they will still consume content, either to generate new ideas or simply to relax. It is a market that will continually grow, but if you really want to stand out, you will have to think outside the box but still relate to your audience.
One of the reasons why being a content creator is so highly sought after is the flexibility that comes with it. You will be able to set your own hours, work wherever and whenever it suits you (provided you continue to meet your goals), and you get to make content about what you love or you simply get to be yourself as opposed to being chained to a desk and having to work for someone else’s vision.
But being a content creator isn’t for everyone, there is a lot more work involved that one might think. It is very much like running a business, with many processes that go on behind the scenes, from coordinating logistics for your next content to being your own marketer. It can be a hard road, but for the right person, it would be a highly rewarding one.
